About Habitat for Humanity
of Ellis County

®

Together, We Build. It Starts With a Home.

Home is the foundation on which we build our lives. It is where children grow and learn, where families gather, and where hope takes root. At Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County, we are part of a global movement working to ensure everyone has a decent, safe and affordable place to call home.

We are a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, founded in 1976. Across the world and right here in Ellis County, we bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. While our work is local, our mission connects us to millions of volunteers, homeowners and supporters who share a common vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

As a Christian organization, our faith is the foundation of who we are. We choose housing as the way we live out that faith because home is essential to health, education, dignity and opportunity. At the same time, we joyfully welcome people of all backgrounds, all faiths and no faith to join us in this work. We believe in building alongside our neighbors, not for them.

What We Do in Ellis County

In Ellis County, we work with individuals and families who face barriers to affordable housing. Together, we:

  • Build new, safe and affordable homes

  • Complete critical home repairs that preserve safety and independence

  • Support pathways to stable, long term homeownership

Our homeowners are active participants in the process. Through volunteer service, education and partnership, they help build their homes and strengthen their communities. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a stable future on their own terms.

Every safe, affordable home sparks wider change. When families have stability, children perform better in school, health outcomes improve, and communities grow stronger.

Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County is a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Board of Directors

Our board members are community leaders who generously give their time, expertise and heart to advance our mission across Ellis County.

Join the Mission

Building homes takes all of us.

Whether you swing a hammer, serve on a committee, pray, give financially, or share our story, you are helping build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter right here in Ellis County.

Every hour volunteered and every dollar donated helps a local family move closer to safe, affordable homeownership.
