MIDLOTHIAN, TX — On Sunday the walls of Midlothian Historic Gymnasium Project echoed with cheers as two local families reached a milestone twenty years in the making. Ellis County Habitat for Humanity hosted a community celebration for the Gandara and Price families, marking the official payoff of their Habitat-financed homes.

The highlight of the event featured the families ceremoniously tearing up facsimiles of their mortgage notes—a symbolic end to a journey that began in 2005. Surrounded by a joyful crowd of family, friends, and Habitat Board members spanning two decades, the event honored the "sweat equity" and dedication required to build and maintain these homes.

“These families didn’t just build houses in 2005; they built a foundation for their futures,” said a representative of the Habitat Board.

As one chapter closes, another begins. Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County is currently seeking its next partner family for an upcoming build in Waxahachie. The organization is reviewing applications now through April 30th.

A BIG thank you to everyone who participated and made the event the beautiful celebration it was. Special thanks to the amazing venue & employees with Midlothian Historic Gymnasium Project, affectionately known as The Old Gym.
